Senator Murray
secures funding
to initiate design
for Phase 7-A
Senator Patty Murray
(D-WA) has secured
$2.6 million in the 2009
Omnibus Appropriations
Bill to continue work
on the U.S. Highway 12
corridor. The money
will fund planning and
design for four-laning the
Touchet portion of the
highway from Nine Mile
Hill to Woodward Canyon.
“This is a big win for
Walla Walla as we work
to fix one of the most
dangerous stretches of
road in our state and
preserve construction jobs
in the area,” said Senator
Murray.
Dr. Fred Bennett,
president of the Port of
Walla Walla Commission,
says Senator Murray
has been instrumental
in securing funding for
Highway 12. “We are
very fortunate to have her
champion this project,”
he said.
